Add an Image Variable
Print Templates
You can create a variety of custom print templates for receipts, lists, specific details and more, with the ability to have a dedicated template for every module and section (e.g. POS receipts, customer details, end of day reports, staff account activity, etc.). Every new app is preset with default templates for each module.
The concept of template customisation is not limited to printing, as you may design templates for Gift Cards, Punch Cards, and Homepage Slides, all of which are created under the same user-interface and in the same way as print template. This page will give you an understanding behind the concept of template creation.
POS Receipt Template
Receipt templates are used to print a customer order or bill, a printed statement acknowledging that something has been paid for or that goods have been received.
To begin creating a new template, tap on the New Template button.
Get to the page below via Homepage > Settings > POS > Print Templates

A pop-up page will appear, enabling you to create a new receipt template.

Template Name
Give your template a unique name to distinguish it from others in the list of templates (e.g. POS Receipt Template, Chef Receipt, Delivery Receipt, etc.).

Active Status
Choose whether or not this template is active. If "No" is selected, the template will not appear as a selectable template option when attempting to print.

Print Paper Size
Select the paper size for which your template is designed.

Default Template for
Select for when this template should be used as the default regarding the Order Type (Dine In / In Store, Delivery, Collection) or for the Second Printer.

Header, Body, Footer and End
These are the four parts which make up a template.
You may change the position of each using lines which are highlighted in blue. Drag and drop each line to increase or decrease the size of each area.

Add an Image
Tap the button highlighted below to add an image to the Header, Body, or Footer.

After selecting the area for which you wish to add the image to (e.g. Header), an image icon will be added to the template.

Tapping this newly added icon will launch a pop-up window displaying options for the image.

Changing the Image
The three icons, as highlighted below, allow you to change the image.
Tapping the camera icon will initiate your device’s camera, allowing you to take a photo and add it to the template.
The image album icon will launch a window displaying all images currently saved to the device you are using. Select one to add it to the template.
The third icon launches a window which shows a number of images which can be used as backgrounds for your template. These images are provided by Tillpoint.

Image Position
You can use the drag and drop function to roughly place the image within the template. To be more precise regarding image placement, you can use the positioning buttons.
Tap the red minus icon to decrease the blue plus icon to increase. You may also tap on the number located between these icons to manually input a position.

Duplicate
The duplicate button, as highlighted below, will duplicate the image directly on top of the original.

Delete
Tap the red bin icon to delete the image.

Add a Variable Image
An image variable may be best described as an area within the template which is reserved for an image which may be subject to change.
For example, a template to print inventory item information should be able to print the image of each item. Adding an image variable will designate an area on the template to print that item’s image, as opposed to having to use one image for all items, or having to create a template for every item in your inventory so each can have its own image.

After selecting the area for which you wish to add the image variable to (e.g. Header), an image icon will be added to the template.

Tapping this newly added icon will launch a pop-up window displaying options for the image.
The process of adding an image variable is very similar to that of adding a normal image, albeit with some extra options.

Variable
Use this field to select which image variable you want connected to this area of the template (e.g. Business Logo, Customer Photo, Item Image, etc.).
If the variable has no image to pull, the space designated to it when printed will remain empty (e.g. If "Business Logo" is selected as the variable, but you have no business logo, that area of the printout will be blank).

Image Variable Area
Use these buttons to designate an area on your template for the image variable.

Photo Show Type
Select the way in which the photo will appear in the designated space.
Fill: This option will attempt to fill up the entire area with the image. This option may cut part of the image in order to fill the space.

Text
Tap the button highlighted below to add text to the Header, Body, or Footer.

After selecting the area for which you wish to add the text to (e.g. Header), a text field will be added to the template.

Tapping the newly added text field will launch the options window.

Text
Use this field to change the text within the field.

Connecting Variable
You can connect text to a text variable. Variables change depending on the information provided whereas normal text does not.
As an example, let’s add "Discount" as normal text to the left side of the template, and add the "Discount" text variable to the right side of the template. If these two are not connected, the text on the left side of a printed receipt will remain, even if no discount was given.
The purpose of this option was to allow users to hide text when the value of its connecting variable is zero. (e.g. If you connected the "Discount" text to the "Discount" text variable, and no discount was given, the normal text will not be printed on the receipt).

Text Field Area and Font Size
Use these buttons to designate an area on your template for the text field, and also the size of the text’s font.

Text Options
Choose how the text should be aligned in according to the text field, select the font, colour, and if the text should span over more than one line.

Duplicate
The duplicate button, as highlighted below, will duplicate the text field directly on top of the original.

Delete
Tap the red bin icon to delete the text field.

Text Variable
A text variable may be described as an area within the template which is reserved for text that’s subject to change.
For example, a template that prints the name of the customer who is purchasing items should be able to print the individual name of each customer. Adding the "Customer Name" text variable will designate an area on the template to print the name of the customer buying items, as opposed to creating a template to cover every name.

After selecting the area for which you wish to add the text variable to (e.g. Header), a text variable field will be added to the template.

Tapping the newly added text variable will launch the options window.

Variable
Select the variable you wish to add to the template.

Text Variable Field Area and Font Size
Use these buttons to designate an area on your template for the text field, and also the font size of the text that will appear when the variable is shown.

Text Variable Options
Choose how the text should be aligned in according to the text field, select the font, colour, and if the text should span over more than one line when the variable is available.

Hide When Empty
Choose whether or not the variable is hidden when the value is nil when printed (i.e. zero or when there is no information to show).

Line
Customisable lines may be added to all templates. Possible uses include separating or breaking up text in order to make the template easier to read.

After selecting the area for which you wish to add the line to (e.g. Header), a field containing a line will be added to the template.

Tapping the newly added line field will launch the options window.
You may add lines to any area of a template, and customise them in a number of ways including position, width, thickness, colour and opacity.

Barcode
A variety of barcodes may be added to templates. These barcodes act as variables and are unique, dependant on the information they represent.
For example, a barcode with the "Customer ID" variable may be selected. Once printed, you may simply scan the barcode to bring up that customer’s profile.

After selecting the area for which you wish to add the barcode to (e.g. Header), a barcode will be added to the template.

Tapping this newly added barcode will launch a pop-up window, displaying options for the barcode.

Variable
Select for which variable the barcode is used (e.g. Order Number, Customer ID, Staff Code, etc.).

Barcode Size
Use these buttons to alter the size of the barcode.

Object Layers
Tap this button to see how the text, images, variables, lines, and barcodes are layered in each area.

You may change the order in which these things are layered by tapping the rearrange icon, followed by dragging and dropping to a new, desired order.

Show Full Size Page
Tapping this button will lengthen the amount of the page visible to you. You can use this extra space to add more to the template.

After tapping this button, you may use your thumb or finger to scroll the page, revealing the rest of the template.

Edit or Delete Templates
Select a template, followed by using your thumb or finger to swipe left, revealing two icons.
Tap the orange pencil icon to edit, or the red bin icon to delete.
